State of Education in West Pokot

Access to clean water has an
adverse effect on the children's education.

The development of the community can come through a proper educational system to make decisions and changes about their farms, village, create new agricultural tools, changes in their lifestyles. They will also realize the necessity of schooling itself.
They can have a better understanding of their duties and rights. They can learn about basic laws to protect them from various abuses or any kind of violence.

This is the state of classrooms in many parts of West Pokot County.

The children in West Pokot lend a hand on the farm or livestock or care for the household chores. Taking this into account, it becomes essential to give particular importance to bring education to them. Schooling will teach them why education is necessary? Show them that to learn or to study is an exciting thing to do.

Working with the area assistant county commissioner to request community to take their children to school. These are the results and they started schooling at a nearby mud built church in Kokwotil village in Kamketo, Kasei ward.

Education is a proper tool for enhancing their quality of life, learning discipline, creating awareness and capability, increasing freedom, increasing human development, and developing their own community to better live. Education is essential in such areas because the children need to get out of all kinds of blind beliefs with no connection with scientific meaning. Schools can teach sanitation and good hygiene practices, which will lead them to have a healthier environment. School can be a place for regular counselling for the children and parents.

We must give education to all children of West Pokot to make them progress in their life. For this, we must assist in providing them with basic facilities to ensure their growth.
At present, the schools don't have proper drinking water, decent buildings, classrooms, blackboards.
